Bridging crypto between blockchains is becoming an essential skill to learn and as the number of layer 1 and layer 2 blockchains grow the need for cross chain transfers is growing. Bridging crypto such as Polygon to Fantom can seem like a daunting and technical task however it does not need to be, follow this simple guide to bridge your Polygon to Fantom.

Polygon to Fantom Bridge

Synapse Bridge

Step 1: Head over to Synapse bridge and connect your wallet, in this case we will be using Metamask as it supports both Polygon and Fantom since they are both EVM compatible networks.

Step 2: Once connected you will see you have an interface similar to a DEX such as Uniswap, from here you can choose which chain you are bridging from and which chain you are wanting to bridge to.

In this case it is from Polygon to Fantom. You must have the Polygon network added to Metamask to be able to do this.

Step 3: For this example we will bridge USDC from Polygon to Fantom. Enter the amount you would like to bridge and approve the USDC using the button at the bottom of the form.

This will open Metamask where you must approve the transaction.

Step 4: From here it is as simple as following the onscreen instructions to complete your bridging transfer.

Multichain

Most bridges have very similar processes so once you learn one you can more or less navigate the majority of bridges in the crypto space, we have covered Synapse bridge as a Polygon to Fantom bridge and now we will cover another that is very similar in its process.

Step 1: Head over to Multichain and connect your wallet, again we will be using Metamask.

Step 2: In the From section choose the asset and the network you would like to bridge from, in this case it is USDC from the network Polygon.

In the To section choose the network you are bridging to, in this case it is Fantom.

Step 3: Enter the amount of assets, in this case USDC that you would like to send and click the approve button, this will open Metamask and prompt you to approve the swap of these assets.

Step 4: Once approved you can go ahead and hit the “Swap” button and begin the bridging process, from here on out just follow the on screen instructions and you will have your Fantom based USDC in no time.

A couple of reminders that are worth noting regarding Multichain:

  • The minimum amount required to use Multichain is 12USDC
  • The maximum amount you can bridge is 20,000,000USDC
  • The estimated time to complete a bridge on Multichain is 10-30 minutes

Where can I bridge to Fantom?

There are dozens of bridges that support Fantom as it is an EVM compatible chain so can be bridged from and to by any other EVM compatible chain. Three of the most known bridges where you can bridge Polygon to Fantom are, Synapse Bridge, Multichain Bridge and Allbridge.

How long does it take to bridge to Fantom?

Depending what chain you are sending from bridging transactions can take anywhere from a few seconds right up to 10+ minutes. For example if you are bridging from a slow network such as Ethereum it will take longer for your assets to arrive than if you were bridging from a fast network such as Polygon.

A lot of bridges will have a FAQ or a reminders section where they layout a rough guide on how long it should take for your assets to show up, for example Multichain has a 10-30 minute wait time for your assets.

Is Fantom faster than Solana?

Both Fantom and Solana boast transaction speeds of up to 10,000 transactions per second however it is difficult to say which is faster. Some could argue that Solana is faster due to it handling more traffic at times than Fantom while still maintaining its fast TPS.

If you are interested in reading more about how Soland and Fantom stack up against each other check out our comparison of the two layer 1 blockchains to see how they perform compared to each other.

Is Fantom the fastest blockchain?

Fantom is definitely in the talks with other networks such as Solana and Near however it is difficult to say which is the fastest, especially as new blockchains are developed and the technology improves.

What is Polygon?

Polygon Logo

Polygon is a decentralized layer 2 network built alongside Ethereum to help Ethereum elevate its congestion issues which has led to high transaction fees and slow transaction speeds. Polygon is the largest layer 2 on the market with an established ecosystem and the technology to back it up.

What is Fantom?

Fantom Logo

Fantom is a decentralized layer 1 network built for its speed and low transaction costs, due to these factors Fantom developed a flourishing DeFi ecosystem during the 2020 bullrun seeing many of the popular dApps being deployed on Fantom.
